Behavioral Science Technology (BST) was looking for innovative ways to improve the experience of attendees and more efficiently manage its online registration system. After launching its first app in 2013, BST saw strong adoption and engagement and opted to start using the multi-event app. BST also incorporated Cvent's event management platform, which helped BST staffers eliminate the most time-consuming tasks and increase conference attendance numbers.

The Issue

BST was committed to offering attendees an enhanced interactive onsite experience while also growing its major conferences. However, BST's internally developed online registration software could no longer accommodate the rising attendance numbers, and the staff began to feel overwhelmed.

Why CrowdCompass

BST needed to streamline the process of capturing attendee information and the integration with Cvent made this possible. That integration also freed up team members so they could focus on creating a CrowdCompass event app that allowed the staff to:

Two Products, One Solution

CrowdCompass

BST offered its first-ever app in 2013 and conference attendees have loved it ever since! In 2014, the app was downloaded by 65% of attendees (up from 50% the year prior), and it had 13,000+ page views and more than 177,000 banner views. Achieving BST's mission of adding value to the attendee experience, the Safety in Action mobile app allows attendees to build their own schedule by quickly browsing different sessions by topic, day, or presenter, and then flagging the ones they're interested in. BST made it easy for new attendees to learn how to navigate the app through feature sessions in New Attendee Orientation and by staffing the information booth with experts.

Event Management

Prior to Cvent, the staff had to manually keep track of clients and prospects in both BST's CRM system and event management system. With Cvent's integration capabilities, all contact data and registration information in BST's CRM system gets automatically updated in Cvent. Kyle Ellingsberg, events administrator at BST, also loved how he could use old events as templates and simply build upon them or make minor changes for future events. He said, “I like how we don't have to build a completely new event landing page and registration page each year. The process saves between 10 and 15 hours for every event.” BST continues to expand its events – in the company's third year using Cvent, upwards of 2,400 people flocked to its Safety in Action Conference, a 10.2% increase from the previous year.

Going Paperless

Growing Global Presence

In its third year with Cvent, BST's attendance and participation grew across the board. The company plans on increasing its number of conferences from two to four by adding new ones in Brazil and Chile. With a streamlined event planning process and enhanced attendee onsite experience, BST can now focus on growing its global presence.
